1939
to 1945 The second World War reared its ugly head. Most competitions were
suspended until 1944 but friendly bowling continued with two Presidents W.
Hudson and C.H. Bates sharing the period of hostilities between them. All
trophies were stored in the cellar of a house in Wraysbury for the
duration, with publication of the Year book canceled.
1944
Flying Bombs created havoc, six matches having to be abandoned in
mid-stream.
1946
Founder
member Ernest Price died one month after completing 50 years on the
Executive. A period during which he served as President, Secretary and for
45 years Treasurer. Victory Dinner held at the Connaught Rooms with 500
dining, Cost 12/6d (62.5p) per head.
1948
Subscription rose for only the second time to £1/10 shillings (£1:50p)
South African touring team played the
L&SCBA.
Substitutes finally allowed in
competitions but a Medical or Death Certificate was required.
1950
Dinner Attendance rose to 548.
